Welcome!
The city of Inagi and Foster City established a sister-city relationship in 2021. We are currently working to establish a robust set of ongoing programs to help connect the youth of both cities and provide experiences and opportunities to drive global understanding an partnership within members of both communities.
Our Mission
The mission of the Foster City Sister City Association (FCSCA) is to build and maintain a mutually beneficial exchange program with the Inagi Inter-City Friendship Association extending across athletics, academics, and cultural exchanges and experiences for both communities.
Our Goals
The goal of FCSCA is to create opportunities that will promote increased cultural awareness and diversity of thought while allowing for experiences that can only be found through its programs. In doing so, it will serve as the backbone of the overall sister-city relationship between both Inagi City and Foster City.
Introduction to Inagi
Inagi City (稲城市, Inagi-shi), established in 1971, is located in the western part of Tokyo Prefecture, Japan, is a charming suburban community known for its peaceful atmosphere and family-friendly environment. The city is surrounded by lush greenery, offering residents numerous parks and open spaces to enjoy. Inagi City also boasts a rich history and culture, with several temples and shrines dotting its landscape. Despite its tranquil suburban setting, Inagi City is conveniently located near the bustling metropolis of Tokyo, providing residents with easy access to a wide range of urban amenities and attractions. Inagi’s mascot is a pear-shaped robot named Nashinosuke Inagi (稲城なしのすけ).
Introduction to Foster City
Foster City, established in 1971, is a testament to visionary urban planning. It was built on the former Brewer Island, a marshy area on the San Francisco Bay’s edge. Developer T. Jack Foster spearheaded this ambitious project, transforming the wetlands into a meticulously designed community known for its lagoons, waterways, and family-friendly environment. Foster City quickly gained popularity, attracting residents with its well-planned neighborhoods, abundant recreational amenities, and proximity to major employment centers. Over the years, the city has continued to flourish, evolving into a thriving hub for technology companies and a sought-after destination for those seeking a balanced suburban lifestyle.
